Hey everyone, I’ve been having a bit of trouble with my Shelly 2PM units controlling my adjustable sunshades. Let me share my experience in case it helps someone else out there!
So, the setup is pretty cool. I’ve got 10 Shelly 2PMs connected to my sunshades, all managed through Rules Machine. The idea is that when the sun gets too strong, the shades automatically lower to a louvered position to protect the house from heat. It works like a charm on 8 of them, but 2 units have been giving me a headache. The issue? No power or position data showing up, even though everything works fine when I connect directly to the device’s IP address.
At first, I was a bit stumped. I mean, why would 8 work perfectly and 2 not even show any data? I started by checking the configurations, but everything looked the same across all units. Maybe it was a firmware issue? I updated both the working and non-working units to the latest firmware, but that didn’t solve the problem.
Then, I thought maybe it was a hardware glitch. I tried swapping the Shelly 2PM units between the problem shades and the ones that were working fine. Guess what? The issue followed the units. So, it wasn’t the shades themselves but definitely something with those two Shelly devices.
After some research, I came across a suggestion to reset the Shelly 2PM units to factory settings and reconfigure them from scratch. I was hesitant because it meant redoing all the setup, but it was worth a shot. I reset them, reconnected them to my network, and went through the configuration process again. Lo and behold, the power and position data started showing up like they should!
It was a bit of a hassle, but at least I got to the bottom of it. Now, all my sunshades are working smoothly, and I can finally enjoy the benefits of automated shading without any worries. If anyone else is having similar issues, I’d recommend checking for firmware updates first and then trying a factory reset if that doesn’t work. Hopefully, this helps someone out there avoid the frustration I went through!
Cheers,
