Shelly 3EM Energy Monitoring in Single-Phase Homes

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Shelly 3EM energy monitor and noticed that my old building only has single-phase power. I wanted to share my experience and ask for advice on how best to utilize this device.

First, I tried connecting the Shelly 3EM to just one phase to monitor the total consumption. It worked surprisingly well! I could see real-time energy usage and even set up alerts for high consumption. But then I wondered—could I use multiple phases to monitor different areas of the house, like the ground floor, first floor, and garden?

I decided to experiment by connecting the Shelly 3EM to different phases and using separate channels for each area. I was amazed at how clear the readings became. It’s like having a mini energy dashboard for each part of the house! However, I did run into some confusion about how to bridge the phases correctly. I’d love to hear if anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing this setup.

Overall, I’m really happy with the Shelly 3EM. It’s given me a much better understanding of my energy usage, and I’ve already started making small changes to be more efficient. If anyone has similar experiences or advice, I’d love to hear about them!
