I recently encountered a couple of interesting challenges with my smart home setup that I’d like to share and discuss with the community. ![]()

First, let me talk about my experience with the Shelly 2 Dimmer module. I’ve set it up in my hallway to control the lights, and it works perfectly with my dusk-to-dawn schedule, dimming to 27% at night. However, my wife and I noticed an issue when manually switching the light on using the physical switch. Instead of coming on at full brightness, it defaults to 27%, which can be a bit frustrating in the middle of the night. ![]()
I tried creating a simple flow: when the switch is turned on, set the brightness to 100%. But here’s the catch—when I did this, the light would briefly turn on at full brightness and then immediately turn off.
It was perplexing! After some research and trial and error, I found that the timing of the automation was crucial. By adjusting the delay in the flow, I managed to get the light to stay on at 100% brightness when manually switched. ![]()
Now, onto my experience with Tuya sockets. I purchased a set of six, and five of them integrated seamlessly into my local Tuya setup. However, the sixth one was stubborn—no matter how many times I followed the setup process, it just wouldn’t show up in my device list.
After some digging, I realized that resetting the socket to factory settings and trying the integration again did the trick. It’s a small hiccup, but it’s good to know that a simple reset can resolve such issues. ![]()
I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar problems or has additional tips for troubleshooting these kinds of integration issues. Let’s keep the conversation going! ![]()
