Shelly Gen 4 Factory Reset and Zigbee Network Issues

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Shelly Gen 4 devices and their interaction with the Zigbee network. I recently had to recreate my entire Zigbee network due to some configuration issues, which meant adding all my devices back one by one. However, I encountered a peculiar problem with my Shelly Gen 4 units. Despite performing a factory reset, they didn’t connect to the new network as expected. They appeared as ‘joined’ in the network, but it seemed like they were still trying to connect to the old network. This was puzzling because a factory reset should, in theory, clear all previous network settings.

I came across this error message in the logs: shelly_zigbee.cpp:237 Network(0xe4f5) closed, devices joining not allowed. It made me think that there might be some residual configuration or a bug in the firmware preventing the devices from connecting properly. After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that others have faced similar issues, especially with older firmware versions.

To resolve this, I decided to update the firmware on my Shelly Gen 4 devices to the latest version available. This process involved using the Shelly app and ensuring that the devices were in range and properly powered. After the update, the devices seamlessly connected to the new Zigbee network without any further issues. It was a relief to see them functioning as intended again.

For anyone else experiencing similar problems, I recommend checking for firmware updates and ensuring that all devices are fully reset before attempting to join a new network. Additionally, verifying the network settings and logs can provide valuable insights into what might be causing the issue. If you’re still stuck, don’t hesitate to ask for help in the forums—there’s always someone willing to lend a hand!

Happy tinkering and keep those smart devices running smoothly!
