Shelly Installation Experience and Tips

I recently decided to upgrade my home with some smart devices, and I started with Shelly units. My journey began with the Shelly Dimmer 2, which I wanted to install in my hallway. Initially, I was a bit confused about how to connect it properly—should I install one in each of the 7 switches or place them directly on the lamps? After some research and a bit of trial and error, I figured out that installing them on the lamps was the way to go, even though it meant I couldn’t control them via the switches. It’s a small trade-off for the convenience of smart lighting!

The installation process was smooth, but I had a few hiccups along the way. For example, I initially thought I needed one Shelly unit per switch, but that wasn’t the case. I learned that it’s better to place them on the lamps to ensure they’re always powered, regardless of the switch position. This was a bit of a learning curve, but I’m happy with the result now.

I also reached out to the community for advice, and I must say, the support here is amazing. Someone suggested using the Shelly app to configure everything, which made the process much easier. I’ve now installed a few more Shelly units around my home, and I’m thoroughly impressed with their reliability and ease of use.

If you’re thinking about adding Shelly devices to your setup, I’d recommend starting small and gradually expanding. It’s also worth checking out the community forums for tips and troubleshooting advice. The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to see how much more I can do with these devices!

Looking forward to sharing more as I continue my smart home journey.
