Hey everyone, I’m new to the world of smart home automation and I’m really excited to share my recent project with you! I’ve been trying to set up a motion sensor to scare away the herons that keep visiting my pond. I’ve heard great things about the Shelly Motion 2 sensor, so I decided to give it a try.
I’ve installed the sensor near the pond, and while it does detect motion, I’m having a bit of trouble with false triggers. For example, when the wind blows and a leaf moves, the sensor goes off, which isn’t ideal. I’ve tried adjusting the sensitivity settings, but it still seems too sensitive for my needs. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to help me fine-tune this sensor to only trigger when larger animals like herons come near?
My ultimate goal is to have the sensor trigger my pond’s sprinkler system for a few seconds when it detects motion. I’ve set up the sprinkler system with a Shelly 1 switch, and that part seems to be working well. I’m just struggling with getting the motion sensor to be reliable and not too sensitive.
I’d also love to hear if anyone else has used the Shelly Motion 2 for a similar project. Did you run into the same issues? How did you solve them? Any advice would be super helpful!
Thanks in advance for your support and wisdom. I’m really looking forward to learning more about how to make this setup work perfectly!
