Shelly Motion Integration and Alarm System Setup

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my recent project with the Shelly Motion sensors! :tada: I’ve been wanting to integrate these into my home automation setup for a while now, and finally took the plunge. Let me walk you through my journey so far and some questions I have along the way.

First off, I’ve installed a few Shelly Motion sensors around my living room. My initial goal is to use them as part of an alarm system. The plan is simple: when motion is detected, a set of lights should turn on. In the future, I’d love to add an indoor siren to the mix, but one step at a time!

Here’s where things get a bit tricky. I want to control the sensors using NFC tags. Specifically, I want the sensor to activate when I leave the room (using an NFC tag on my phone) and deactivate when I come back. This way, the system won’t go off randomly while I’m at home. Does anyone have experience with setting this up? I’m not quite sure how to configure the automation for NFC tags with the Shelly Motion sensors.

Another thing I’m exploring is creating a bedtime routine. I imagine something like this: if I turn off the living room lights, the Shelly Motion sensors should automatically arm themselves. Then, in the morning, they’d disarm at a specific time. I’m thinking of using a combination of time-based logic and state changes to make this happen. Any tips or examples of similar setups would be super helpful!

Oh, and here’s a fun challenge: I also have some Shelly 2.5 units controlling my window blinds. I want to use the light sensor on those units without worrying about false triggers from the motion sensors. Is there a way to set up the logic so that the two systems don’t interfere with each other? I’m hoping to avoid any unintended consequences, like the blinds closing when someone walks by!

I know I’m throwing a lot of questions out there, but I’m really eager to dive into these projects. The flexibility of the Shelly devices is amazing, and I can’t wait to see how creative I can get with them. If anyone has any insights, workarounds, or success stories, I’d love to hear them! :rocket:

Cheers,
