Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experiences with installing the Shelly Pro 3EM sensor and troubleshooting issues with a Zigbee soil sensor. I hope this can help others who might be encountering similar challenges.
Shelly Pro 3EM Installation Experience
I recently purchased the Shelly Pro 3EM and was excited to install the optional 4th CT sensor. The installation process itself was straightforward, but calibrating the sensor was a bit tricky. I found the instructions a bit unclear, so I had to do some extra research online. After some trial and error, I managed to get it working. The addition of the 4th sensor has definitely improved the accuracy of my energy monitoring, especially for my PV system. It’s great to see the precise data now!
Zigbee Soil Sensor Issue
On the other hand, I’ve been having some trouble with a new Zigbee soil sensor. Despite being connected to my Tuya gateway, it doesn’t show up as an entity in Home Assistant. I can see it in the device list, but the humidity, temperature, and battery values are unavailable. I tried manually adding the sensor using the device ID from the registry, but that didn’t work either. I’m considering reaching out to the manufacturer or checking if there’s a firmware update that might resolve this issue.
Alexa TTS Announcements Without Alexa Media Player
I also wanted to mention a workaround I found for using Amazon Alexa for TTS announcements without relying on the Alexa Media Player. By setting up a simple script and using a template binary sensor, I was able to bypass the frequent reauthentication issues. This method involves creating a dummy motion sensor and linking it to an Alexa routine. It’s a bit more configuration-heavy, but it’s been working reliably for me. I detailed the steps in a recent post, and I’m happy to share more information if anyone is interested.
If anyone has insights or solutions for the Zigbee soil sensor issue, I’d greatly appreciate the help. Also, if you’ve successfully installed the Shelly Pro 3EM’s 4th sensor, I’d love to hear about your experience!
