Shelly Switch Connectivity Issues and Solutions

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with Shelly switches and hope it can help others facing similar issues. I recently installed five Shelly 1L switches in my home and connected them to Home Assistant. While they work perfectly with the Shelly Android app, I noticed frequent disconnections when trying to access them via my computer using their IP addresses. This was quite frustrating, especially since the devices were very close to my router.

After some research, I discovered that enabling ‘ColoT’ in the Shelly app was necessary for proper Home Assistant integration. I went ahead and enabled this feature, and it made a noticeable difference! However, the devices still occasionally showed ‘Connecting’ in the app. To improve this, I ensured all firmware updates were installed and reset the devices a few times. Interestingly, the problem seemed to be more consistent with older firmware versions, so keeping everything up to date was crucial.

I also reached out to the community for advice, and someone suggested checking the router’s QoS settings to prioritize Shelly devices. While I haven’t tried this yet, it’s on my list of next steps.
