Hey everyone, I just wanted to share a quick tip that might help those of you who, like me, struggle with keeping the house secure without disturbing the family’s sleep. I recently installed an indoor siren (HM-Sec-Sir-WM) as part of my home security system, and it’s been working great. The siren emits a confirmation tone when activated, which is super handy during the day. However, I realized that the tone could be a bit too disruptive after 10 PM, especially when the family is asleep.
Initially, I was manually adjusting the settings through the web interface every evening, but that quickly became tedious. I started looking for a more automated solution and stumbled upon the idea of using scripts to handle the timing. After some research and trial and error, I managed to set up a simple automation that silences the siren during late hours.
Here’s how I did it: I created a time-based automation that triggers at 10 PM, disabling the siren’s audio output. In the morning, another automation re-enables it at 7 AM. This way, I don’t have to manually adjust the settings every day, and the family gets the peace they deserve during the night.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar challenges or has even better solutions to share! It’s always great to learn from the community. ![]()
