Slow Updates from deCONZ in Home Assistant – Tips and Solutions

Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share my experience and some tips regarding slow updates from deCONZ in Home Assistant. I recently set up my system with a Conbee II USB stick and several Xiaomi Aqara sensors, and while everything works, the update frequency has been a bit of a frustration for me.

Initially, I noticed that the temperature readings from my attic sensor weren’t updating quickly enough. After some research and experimentation, I found a few solutions that might help others facing the same issue. Here are my top tips:

  1. Adjust the Polling Interval: Check your deCONZ settings in Home Assistant and adjust the polling interval to a shorter timeframe. This can significantly speed up updates.

  2. Optimize Sensor Placement: Ensure your sensors are placed optimally to receive strong signals. Sometimes, physical obstructions can affect performance.

  3. Firmware Updates: Keep both your deCONZ software and sensor firmware up to date. Updates often include performance improvements and bug fixes.

  4. Use the Phoscon App: The Phoscon app from deCONZ offers real-time monitoring and can help you troubleshoot connectivity issues.

  5. Consult the Community: If issues persist, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Home Assistant or deCONZ communities. There are plenty of knowledgeable users who can offer advice.

I hope these tips help someone out there. If you have any additional suggestions or solutions, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep learning and improving our smart home setups together.
