Hi everyone! I’m in the midst of transforming my apartment into a smart home, and I’m really excited about it. Right now, I’m focusing on my bathrooms and trying to set up everything as efficiently as possible without any major renovations. I’ve managed to switch out all my bulbs to dimmable LEDs and connect them to my smart home system, but there’s one issue I can’t seem to crack: my bathroom switches.
In both bathrooms, there are two switches. One controls two ceiling track lights, and the other handles both the vanity lights above the mirror and the exhaust fan. I’d love to have both sets of lights dimmable and combine the exhaust fan control with one of the switches. Ideally, I want a dimmer for the lights and a toggle for the fan on the same switch. But I’m not sure how to achieve this.
I checked the wiring, and it looks like I don’t need to run any new wires to separate the exhaust fan from the existing switch. That’s good news! Now, I’m just trying to figure out if there’s a switch that can handle both the dimmable lights and the exhaust fan. I’ve considered using a simple on/off toggle for the fan and connecting it to the vanity lights, but I’m not sure if that would work for dimming. Any suggestions or experiences you’ve had with similar setups would be super helpful!
I’m really hoping to find a solution that allows me to keep everything integrated and automated. Thanks in advance for your advice! ![]()
