Hi everyone! I wanted to share my recent project of setting up a smart bathroom ventilation system. It’s been a fantastic addition to my home, and I thought I’d walk through the process and some tips I’ve picked up along the way.
I decided to go with a Perilex-controlled exhaust fan, which I connected to Home Assistant using a Shelly 2.5. The setup allows me to regulate the fan speed based on humidity levels, which is a huge plus for reducing unnecessary noise. Initially, I faced some challenges with the automation settings, but after some trial and error, everything is running smoothly!
One thing I found particularly helpful was reading through other users’ experiences. For instance, someone mentioned the importance of ensuring the humidity sensor is placed correctly to avoid false triggers. I couldn’t agree more—I had to move mine a couple of times before finding the perfect spot. Another tip I came across was using IFTTT to log the fan usage, which has been great for monitoring energy consumption.
I’d love to hear how others have tackled similar projects. Have you integrated voice control into your system? I’m considering adding that next. Feel free to share your setups and any tips you’ve discovered along the way!
