Hi everyone,
I recently renovated my bathroom and ran into an interesting challenge. I installed a new ventilation fan, but I noticed that it shouldn’t run when the gas water heater is in operation. Both devices require fresh air, and running them simultaneously could potentially draw exhaust gases back into the room. This was a bit concerning, so I decided to find a smart solution to manage this situation.
My plan was to use Shelly devices to automate the process. Here’s what I thought: a Shelly device could monitor the water heater’s status. If the heater is active, it would disable the ventilation fan via a Shelly relay. This way, the fan would only run when the heater is off, ensuring a safe environment.
I’m not entirely sure which Shelly products would work best for this setup. I’ve heard great things about Shelly 1PM and Shelly Switch, but I’m not certain how to configure them for this specific use case. Has anyone tackled a similar problem before? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
On a related note, I’ve been using Shelly devices for a while now, and I’m impressed by their reliability and ease of integration with Home Assistant. They’ve helped me streamline several processes around the house, from lighting automation to temperature control. It’s amazing how these small devices can make such a big difference in daily life.
I’m really curious to see how others have approached similar challenges. Maybe there’s a more efficient way to achieve this, or perhaps some additional safety measures I should consider. Let me know your ideas!
Cheers,
