Smart Blinds Installation and Measurement Tips

I’m currently working on finishing up my basement remodel and I’ve decided to go with Lutron Serena dual honeycomb shades. I’ve had Bali dual honeycomb shades in the rest of the house, but they’re manually operated top-down/bottom-up. When I purchased the Bali shades, I was advised to add 4-6 inches to the window height to account for potential shrinkage over time, which might prevent the blinds from fully opening. Now, I’m wondering if I should do the same with the Lutron Serena shades or if exact measurements are sufficient since they’re battery-powered.

I’m curious how adding extra inches might affect the operation of the battery-powered shades. For example, would the system show 90% closed or 100% closed if there’s extra space? I’m trying to strike a balance between ensuring the shades operate smoothly and not overcomplicating the setup.

If anyone has experience with Lutron Serena shades or similar battery-powered blinds, I’d love to hear about your installation process, measurement tips, and any lessons learned. Did you add extra space, and if so, did it impact the functionality? Any advice on optimizing battery life or ensuring smooth operation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your help!
