Smart Boiler System Integration and Valve Configuration

Hello everyone, I’m currently working on integrating my Vaillant boiler system into a smarter setup. I have a wireless thermostat that’s supposed to control the boiler, but I’m running into some challenges when adding smart valves in other rooms. Here’s what I’ve discovered and what I’m considering:

Currently, the thermostat in my coldest room works well with the boiler, but when I add smart valves in other areas, there’s a disconnect. If a room requests heat but the thermostat doesn’t sense the need, the system doesn’t activate the water circulator, leaving those rooms without heat. This is frustrating, especially in the colder months.

My initial thought was to remove the smart thermostat, but that would mean the boiler runs continuously, which isn’t efficient or advisable. My next idea was to replace the thermostat with a compatible device from the valve manufacturer that can collect data from all valves and decide when to turn on the circulator. However, the circulator is integrated into the boiler and isn’t OpenTherm compatible, though I can purchase an official card to make it so.

I’m curious if anyone has successfully integrated a similar setup or has technical insights on the best approach. It’s a significant investment to add smart valves everywhere, so I want to ensure the configuration works as intended. Any suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I’m also exploring the possibility of using a smart thermostat that can communicate with the valves more effectively or integrating additional sensors to provide better feedback to the system. It’s a bit overwhelming, but I’m determined to find a solution that makes my heating system both efficient and comfortable.

Thanks in advance for any advice or recommendations!
