Smart Camera Setup for Monitoring

Hello everyone! I’m excited to share my recent project of setting up a smart camera for home monitoring. I’ve been wanting to enhance my home security, and after doing some research, I decided to go with a Wyze Cam V3-PRO. It’s been a fun journey, but I’ve hit a few bumps along the way and could use some advice from the community.

First, let me walk you through my setup. I mounted the camera in a corner of my backyard to keep an eye on any activity. The installation was straightforward, but I noticed something odd right away. When I rotated the camera 180 degrees to get the perfect view, the smart event detection stopped working. I could see the live feed just fine, but no alerts for people, pets, or vehicles. This was a bit frustrating because I rely on these notifications to stay informed about what’s happening outside.

I checked the firmware and settings, and everything seemed up to date. I also compared it to my older Wyze Cam V3, which worked perfectly when upside down. It seems like a regression in the newer model. I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue or found a workaround. Maybe there’s a setting I’m missing or a firmware update that could resolve it.

On a positive note, the integration with Home Assistant has been seamless. I set up a simple automation where the camera sends a snapshot to my phone whenever it detects motion. However, the image quality is a bit lacking, and I’m curious if there’s a way to adjust the resolution settings within Home Assistant to get clearer pictures.

I’d also love to hear about others’ experiences with smart cameras. What features do you find most essential? How do you handle similar issues with placement and detection? Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!

In the meantime, I’ll keep experimenting with the settings and keep the community updated on any progress. Thanks for your support and insights!
