Smart Christmas Decorations with Govee and ESP32

The holiday season is always a special time for me, and this year I decided to take my Christmas decorations to the next level with some smart home tech. I’ve been eyeing the Govee RGBIC Christmas tree lights for a while now, and I finally decided to give them a try. They’re waterproof, which is a huge plus for outdoor use, and the color combinations are amazing!I also wanted to add some automation to make things even more convenient. I’ve been experimenting with an ESP32 module to connect my bike’s battery monitor to Home Assistant. It’s been a fun project, and I thought why not use the same setup for my Christmas lights? I set up a simple automation where the lights change colors based on the time of day and even dim slightly when it’s raining (thanks to a weather sensor integration). One challenge I faced was getting the lights to work seamlessly with my existing smart switches. I ended up using a Sonoff ZB Mini to send Zigbee commands, and it worked like a charm! The integration with my Home Assistant setup was smooth, and now I can control everything from my phone or even through voice commands. If you’re thinking about adding some smart elements to your holiday decorations, I highly recommend checking out Govee’s RGBIC lights and exploring the possibilities with an ESP32 setup. It’s been a fantastic way to combine creativity with technology, and it’s definitely made this Christmas extra special for me.What are your favorite smart home holiday hacks? I’d love to hear your ideas and maybe get some inspiration for next year! :christmas_tree::sparkles:
