Smart Cleaning Automation with Wyze Vacuum

I’ve recently started exploring the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been a fascinating journey! One of the devices that has really impressed me is the Wyze Vacuum. I’ve been using it for a while now, and I’ve got to say, it’s a game-changer for keeping my home clean without much effort. However, I’ve been thinking about how to make it even smarter.

I came across a feature request on the Wyze community forum about adding spot cleaning functionality through the app. Imagine being able to tell the vacuum to clean a specific area, like right after spilling something or before a guest arrives. That would be incredibly handy! I’ve heard that some cheaper vacuums have this feature, and it was a breeze to use. I really hope Wyze considers adding this in a future update.

While I’m waiting for that, I’ve been experimenting with automating other aspects of my home. For instance, I set up a rule where the lights dim slightly when I’m watching TV, making the experience more comfortable. It’s these small touches that make a big difference in how I interact with my home.

Another thing I wanted to share is a tip for anyone using Home Assistant. I struggled with getting the mDNS feature working on my Docker container. After some research, I found that updating the container’s DNS settings resolved the issue. It’s a minor tweak, but it makes a world of difference for device discovery.

On a lighter note, I also upgraded my garden lights recently. They’re super bright and come with adjustable settings, which is perfect for creating different ambiance zones. I can’t wait to fully set them up and see how they transform my outdoor space!

If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing smart home devices, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the conversation going and make our homes smarter together!
