Hey everyone, I wanted to share something I’ve been working on that might interest those of you into home automation and security. I’ve designed a SmartApp called the Garage Door Sunset Monitor, and it’s been a fun project that I think could be really useful for others.
The app is designed to notify you if your garage door (or any other contact sensor) is open after dark or during specific preset times. It’s been running reliably in my setup for a while now, and I’d love to hear if anyone else finds it helpful or has suggestions for improvement.
Here’s a quick rundown of its features:
- Monitors any number of doors or contact sensors
- Can be set to monitor based on sunset/sunrise times, with adjustable offsets, or specific times of the day
- Allows customization of how long the door can be open before triggering an alert
I’ve been using it to keep an eye on my garage door, and it’s given me peace of mind knowing that I’ll be alerted if something’s amiss. It’s especially handy during those early morning or late-night hours when I might not notice the door being open.
