Hi everyone, I’m excited to share my latest project—a smart greenhouse!
I’ve been planning this for a while and decided to integrate my existing Shelly devices to keep things seamless. I’ve got everything set up for power, water, and Wi-Fi, but I’m now focusing on the automation details.
Here’s what I have in mind:
-
Watering System: I’ll use two rainwater barrels connected to a pump. The pump will activate based on soil moisture sensors, and if the barrels drop below 25%, the system will automatically refill using well water.
-
Ventilation: This is where I’m a bit stuck. Should I go with motorized windows or install fans? I’m leaning toward windows for better airflow, but I’m not sure how to automate them.
-
Window Automation: I’m considering either motorized louver windows or simple chicken coop doors. I love the look of louver windows, but I’m not sure how to integrate motors or controls. The chicken coop doors are cheaper and easier to automate, but they’re not as stylish.
-
Technology Integration: I already have an Ecowitt weather station with soil sensors, but I’m not sure if I should rely on it for everything or add separate Shelly sensors for specific functions like water level and rainfall.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on these questions:
- What’s the best way to automate louver windows or doors?
- Should I stick with the weather station or add more sensors?
- Are ultrasonic water level sensors reliable enough to prevent overflow?
Thank you in advance for your insights! ![]()
