Hello everyone, I wanted to share some of my recent experiences and thoughts about my smart home journey. It’s been an incredible ride, and I’m always excited to learn more and improve my setup.
Recently, I’ve been working on transitioning my smart home system from Vera to openHAB. It’s been a bit of a challenge, especially with some devices not being recognized correctly. For example, my Finesse Mini blinds showed up as unknown devices. After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that this is a known issue and there are ways to manually add them to the database. It’s a bit technical, but the sense of accomplishment when it all works is amazing!
Another area I’ve been exploring is plant care. I have over 10 plants at home, and I wanted a way to monitor their moisture levels without having to check each one manually. I came across some wireless sensors that send alerts when water is needed. While there are DIY options, I’m leaning towards a plug-and-play solution that integrates smoothly with my existing setup. The community has been really helpful in suggesting reliable options.
I also wanted to mention the wonderful Christmas Morning initiative. It’s heartwarming to see how smart home technology can bring people together, regardless of where they are in the world. It truly makes the holiday season special.
