Smart Home Automation Journey: Lights, Security, and Convenience

Starting my smart home journey has been an exciting adventure, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with the community. Over the past few months, I’ve been integrating various devices to create a seamless and automated living space. One of the key components I’ve focused on is lighting automation, which has completely transformed how I interact with my home.

I’ve been using Rako lighting for my home renovation project, and it’s been a fantastic choice. The ability to control lights via Homey has allowed me to set up some really handy automations. For instance, when the back door is opened after sunset, the outdoor lights automatically switch on. It’s these small touches that make living in a smart home so enjoyable.

Another area I’ve been exploring is security automation. I recently installed a Nuki smart lock and integrated it with my Shelly relays. Now, when the driveway gate opens in the evening, the outdoor lights stay on for 20 minutes, providing excellent visibility and peace of mind. Pairing this with my CCTV cameras, I can even set up rules where specific lights turn on if motion is detected in certain areas. It’s all about creating layers of security while maintaining convenience.

One thing I’ve learned is the importance of blinds automation. Especially during the day, having the blinds automatically lower when no one is home not only saves energy but also adds an extra layer of privacy. It’s these subtle integrations that really showcase the potential of smart home technology.

I’d love to hear from others who have successfully integrated multiple brands and devices. What are your favorite automations, and how have they improved your daily life? Whether it’s lighting, security, or something else entirely, sharing experiences helps us all learn and grow in this amazing community!

Cheers to building smarter homes together! :rocket:
