After researching various brands and systems, I decided to go with a mix of Govee, Wyze, and SmartThings devices for their compatibility and user-friendly interfaces.### Lighting AutomationOne of the highlights of my project is the lighting system. I replaced all my traditional bulbs with Govee Smart LED Bulbs. The ability to control them via voice commands or the Govee app has been a game-changer. I also set up routines using SmartThings, such as turning on specific lights when I walk into a room or dimming them in the evening for a cozy atmosphere.> Pro Tip: If you’re using Govee lights, make sure to explore their app’s scheduling features. I created a routine where my bedroom lights dim gradually in the evening, helping me wind down before bed.### Security and SurveillanceSecurity was another key area I wanted to improve. I installed Wyze cameras both indoors and outdoors. The video quality is impressive, and the motion detection feature has been reliable. I also set up notifications on my phone so I’m alerted whenever there’s activity around my home.> Challenge: Initially, I struggled with the camera placement to ensure full coverage without blind spots. After a few adjustments, I found the perfect spots that keep my home well-monitored.### Energy EfficiencyI’m passionate about reducing my energy consumption, so I integrated smart plugs and sensors into my setup. Using SmartThings, I created routines that turn off unused appliances during the day or when I’m not home. This has helped me save on electricity bills.> Tip: If you’re using smart plugs, consider setting up automatic schedules for devices like coffee makers or lamps. It’s a small change that makes a big difference over time.### The Learning CurveLike many of you, I faced some challenges along the way.
