Hey everyone, I wanted to share some progress on my smart home automation journey! ![]()
After spending a few months researching and setting up various devices, I’ve finally managed to integrate most of my system. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve implemented so far:
-
Smart Lighting: Using a combination of LIFX bulbs and Sonoff switches, I’ve created a seamless lighting system that adjusts based on time of day and occupancy sensors. The RGB colors are stunning, and the dimming feature works perfectly!
-
Security: I’ve installed Reolink cameras both indoors and outdoors. The video quality is impressive, and the motion detection alerts are reliable. Pairing them with Alexa for notifications has been a game-changer.
-
Climate Control: Netatmo thermostats have made managing my home’s temperature a breeze. The app provides real-time updates, and the integration with my HVAC system is spot-on.
-
Automation: I’ve been experimenting with Node-RED to create custom automations. For example, my kitchen lights now turn on when motion is detected and dim automatically based on ambient light levels. It’s amazing how much smoother daily routines feel with these setups!
One thing I’d love to hear more about is voice command integration for devices like the Wyze Cam. I’ve heard the Alexa skill works well in the US, but I’m curious if anyone has found a reliable workaround for the UK. Also, if anyone has tips on optimizing MQTT connections for devices spread across different rooms, that would be fantastic! ![]()
It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m excited to see how much further I can take this project. If anyone has questions or suggestions, feel free to drop them below! Let’s keep the smart home community growing! ![]()
