Hello everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home automation and wanted to share my experiences and challenges so far. I’m currently in the planning phase of setting up my living room with Homematic (HM) devices, and I’m both excited and a bit overwhelmed by the possibilities. Let me walk you through my setup and some questions I have along the way.
Project Overview
I aim to integrate three main systems into my living room: motorized roller shutters, underfloor heating, and smart lighting. Each of these systems has its own set of requirements and challenges, and I’m eager to get your thoughts on my approach.
1. Motorized Roller Shutters
I have three windows and a balcony door in my living room. My plan is to install a central control unit for the roller shutters. I’ve selected the HM-PB-6-WM55 as the central controller, which offers six buttons for individual and group control. This setup would allow me to lower or raise all shutters simultaneously or control them individually.
For the windows, I plan to use HM-LC-BL1-FM actuators, while the balcony door will have an HM-LC-BL1PBU-FM actuator mounted next to the door for convenience. I’m also considering time-based automation through the CCU2. Does this setup make sense, or are there potential issues I should be aware of?
2. Underfloor Heating
My underfloor heating system has three separate heating loops, each requiring a temperature sensor and a switching actuator. I’ve chosen the HM-TC-IT-WM-W-EU as the temperature sensor and the HM-LC-SW1-FM as the switching actuator. This combination should allow me to control each heating loop independently. Is there a more efficient or reliable setup for this?
3. Smart Lighting
Lighting is where I’m encountering the most challenges. My living room has two entrances, and I want each entrance to have a light switch that can control different lighting scenarios. These scenarios should be dimmable, and I don’t want a single switch to control all lights. Instead, each switch should control a specific set of lights or scenes.
I’m considering using HM-LC-DIM1TCV or HM-LC-DIM1L-CV dimming actuators for this purpose. However, I’m unsure how many actuators I’ll need to support four different lighting scenarios. Should I opt for wall-mounted senders with displays, or stick with the six-button sender? I’m also curious about the feasibility of using touchscreens for this setup.
Community Support
I reached out to eQ-3 for support but found their assistance lacking. They directed me to dealer websites without addressing my functional questions. This experience has made me even more eager to connect with the community for advice and insights.
Conclusion
I’m really looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions on my setup. Whether it’s about the roller shutters, underfloor heating, or lighting, your expertise would be invaluable. If anyone has successfully implemented a similar system or has tips for optimizing these configurations, I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you in advance for your help and insights!
