Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up a smart home automation system. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m thrilled with the results so far!
The Challenge:
I have two different sized windows in my living room, one 50cm and the other 90cm wide. I wanted to automate their blinds using two separate motors. The issue was ensuring both blinds open and close smoothly, despite their different sizes and the varying loads they handle.
The Setup:
I decided to use a Shelly 2.5 paired with a Trennrelais R2-U-230 relay. This setup allows me to control both motors independently. I placed everything neatly in a double socket box, which was a tight fit but worked perfectly!
The Solution:
After some trial and error, I found that calibrating each motor individually through the Shelly app was key. This ensured both blinds move at the same rate, even though their motors work under different loads. It’s amazing how precise the automation is now!
Lessons Learned:
- Always check the physical space for your devices before installing.
- Take the time to calibrate each device individually for smoother operation.
- Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for advice—it’s a fantastic resource!
Looking Ahead:
I’m now exploring how to integrate this setup with my existing Z-Wave system. The possibilities are endless, and I’m excited to see how much more I can automate around my home!
If anyone has tips on optimizing motor calibration or integrating Shelly with other systems, I’d love to hear them! Happy automating everyone! ![]()
