I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an incredible journey! 
I wanted to share my experience in setting up two key automations that have significantly enhanced my daily life. Hopefully, this can inspire others or provide some tips along the way!
First off, I’ve been working on integrating my Google Calendar with my Tado thermostats. The goal was to have my office heated automatically whenever I have a ‘Homeoffice’ event in my calendar. After some research and trial and error, I managed to set this up using IFTTT and the Google Calendar integration. It’s amazing how seamlessly everything works together now! During my home office hours, the temperature adjusts just right, making my workdays more comfortable. 
The second automation I’ve been working on involves motion sensors. I have a Hue motion sensor in my hallway and another in the living room. I wanted to avoid false alarms, so I decided to set it up so that an alert is only sent if both sensors detect movement within a 2-minute window. This way, I don’t get notified for every little movement, but I still stay informed about any significant activity in the house. Setting this up required a bit of tinkering with flows, but it’s been worth it for the peace of mind it provides. 
One thing I’ve learned throughout this process is the importance of testing and tweaking. Every setup might not work perfectly on the first try, but with patience and some online resources, it’s entirely doable. I’ve also discovered the power of community forums like this one—without the collective knowledge shared here, I wouldn’t have been able to figure things out as quickly.
