Smart Home Automation Success Story: Music Control with Lenovo Tablet

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a fun project I worked on over the holidays that has really enhanced our smart home experience. I picked up a cheap Lenovo M9 tablet and turned it into a music control hub for our Echo devices connected to external speakers. The goal was to find a family-friendly way to interact with and load music onto these devices easily, and I think I nailed it! I designed a simple interface using conditions to show the different devices, including a group where the speakers are linked in Amazon. The interface displays what’s currently playing on each device and has a text field where you can enter the artist or song you want to play. Since we use Apple Music, the text box was the simplest solution and it works with speech recognition, which the kids absolutely love! One of my favorite features is how the Play button changes to Pause depending on the Echo’s status. I also set up some automations to turn the external speaker amps on only when needed, saving energy and reducing background noise. For charging, I added a smart inline plug that triggers when the tablet’s power drops below 20%, which has been a great hands-off solution. To keep everything secure and focused, I installed Fully Kiosk with facial recognition. It turns the screen on and off automatically, and even turns it off at night. This setup has been a huge hit with the whole family, making music control effortless and fun for everyone! If anyone has similar projects or tips for improving music automation, I’d love to hear about them. It’s amazing how a little creativity and the right tools can transform how we interact with our smart home devices. Cheers to all the innovators out there! :notes:
