Hi everyone! I wanted to share a success story that combines a few of the topics we’ve been discussing lately. It’s all about how integrating package tracking with smart lighting can make life a bit more seamless and enjoyable. ![]()

Earlier this week, I set up package tracking in Home Assistant using the Bring API, as mentioned in one of the posts. It’s been a game-changer! Now, whenever a package is on its way, I get a notification, and my Hue lights automatically change color to let me know something’s on the porch. ![]()

Here’s how I did it:
-
Package Tracking Setup: I followed the instructions to integrate Bring’s API into Home Assistant. It was surprisingly straightforward, and now I have real-time updates on all my packages. No more guessing if my delivery is on its way!
-
Hue Scene Automation: I created a monthly Hue scene variable, as discussed in another thread, and set it up so that my lights change color based on the status of my packages. For example, green means a package is on the way, yellow means it’s delivered, and red means it’s out for delivery.

-
Integration Magic: Using Home Assistant’s automation rules, I linked the package tracking data to my Hue scenes. Now, whenever a package status changes, my lights automatically update, and I get a notification. It’s like having a personal assistant keeping track of my deliveries!

This integration has made my life a bit easier, especially during busy weeks when I’m juggling multiple deliveries. Plus, it’s been a fun way to experiment with Home Assistant’s capabilities and see how different smart home features can work together. ![]()
If anyone has questions about setting this up or wants to share their own automation success stories, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the ideas flowing! ![]()
