I’ve been on a journey to automate my home, and I’m thrilled to share my recent success with temperature sensors and smart plugs. 
A few weeks ago, I wanted to ensure my heater turned on automatically when the temperature dropped below a certain threshold, especially when I’m home. I stumbled upon the Xiaomi temperature sensor and paired it with a Wemo smart plug. Initially, I was a bit confused about setting up the automation criteria in the app, but after some research and trial and error, I got it working perfectly!
Here’s how I did it:
- Setup: I placed the Xiaomi temperature sensor in the room I wanted to monitor. The sensor was easy to install and started syncing data almost immediately.
- Integration: I connected the Wemo smart plug to my heater and ensured both devices were on the same network.
- Automation: Using the app, I set up a rule where if the temperature drops below 68°F and I’m home, the Wemo plug turns on the heater. It’s been a game-changer for keeping my home cozy without manual intervention.
I also explored the Govee Circular Smart Plugs, which are sleek and offer remote control and automation. They fit seamlessly into my decor, and the LED indicator is a nice touch to know their status at a glance. The Govee Home app made the setup process a breeze, guiding me through Wi-Fi connection in just a few minutes.
This automation has been especially helpful during the colder months. It’s amazing how technology can make our lives more comfortable and efficient.
