I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with the community. One thing that’s been on my mind a lot is backup solutions, especially for my Paperless-ngx setup on Home Assistant. I’ve been using it to manage all my documents, and while it’s fantastic, I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to back up everything to my Nextcloud storage. I’ve come across a few guides, but most of them are for extra containers rather than the HA add-on. If anyone has a reliable method or workaround, I’d love to hear about it! 
On another note, I’ve been using the newer Device Firmware Updater tool for my Z-Wave devices, and while it’s a solid improvement over older tools, there are a few areas where it could use some tweaks. For instance, a batch mode for updating multiple devices of the same model would save a ton of time. I’ve been manually updating each device one by one, which is pretty tedious, especially with a setup as extensive as mine. I also noticed some sensitivity to distance issues during OTA updates, which was a bit unexpected. Moving my Hubitat closer to the devices helped, but I’m still curious if others have experienced similar quirks or found solutions.
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is integrating different brands of smart devices. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but it’s rewarding to see everything work together seamlessly. I’d love to hear how others have managed to combine devices from various manufacturers and any tips they might have for optimizing performance and compatibility.
