1. Event2GCal Plugin Integration
I recently discovered the Event2GCal plugin, which allows me to add events directly to my Google Calendar from my Vera system. This has been a game-changer for managing my daily routines and receiving timely alerts. For instance, I set up a scene that adds a ‘Grocery Shopping’ event to my calendar every Friday morning. It’s incredibly handy and keeps me organized!
2. Solving Network Discovery Issues
I faced a challenge with my OpenHAB setup where it couldn’t discover some Windows 10 devices on my network. After some research, I found that granting Java the necessary permissions using setcap resolved the issue. This tweak not only improved device discovery but also ensured smoother operation of my smart home routines.
3. Custom Lighting Scenes
I’ve been experimenting with creating custom lighting scenes using my Govee bulbs. By adjusting the brightness and color temperatures, I’ve managed to create ambiance that suits different moods and times of the day.
