Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating several smart home devices and setting up some cool automations. It’s been a journey, but I’m thrilled with the results!
First off, I recently added a Shelly 1 switch to my setup. I was a bit worried about compatibility, especially since I’m using it with some older Busch u. Jäger light switches. To my delight, the integration went smoothly with the Shelly app. I can now control my lights both physically and via the app, which is super convenient!
However, I did encounter a small hiccup. Initially, I noticed that switching the light on or off physically after using the app required a double press. After some research, I found that adjusting the switch’s firmware settings resolved the issue. It’s amazing how a simple tweak can make such a difference!
Another project I tackled was setting up a Fibaro switch for my sliding gate. I paired it with a Fibaro reed sensor to monitor the gate’s status. The goal was to create a manual scene that opens the gate only if it’s closed. At first, the scene ignored the conditions, but after some trial and error, I realized it was a matter of refining the logic in the Fibaro HC3. Updating the firmware also helped ensure everything ran smoothly.
I’ve also been exploring automations to streamline my daily routines. For instance, I programmed my lights to turn off and doors to lock automatically when I leave the house. In the morning, my curtains open, and my coffee machine starts brewing—all with a single press of a button. It’s little touches like these that make smart home living truly worthwhile.
I’d love to hear about your smart home setups and any tips you have for improving automations. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other make the most of our smart devices!
