As I embark on my smart home journey, I wanted to share my experiences and seek advice from the community. I’ve recently started integrating various devices, including Zigbee and Shelly products, and while the process has been exciting, there are a few challenges I’m encountering.
One of my main projects involves setting up smart lighting and roller shutters. I’ve installed 10 roller shutters across two floors, which are connected to Shelly Pro Shutter devices. The idea is to control them seamlessly through Home Assistant. However, I’m concerned about the Zigbee network’s range, especially since my server is located in the basement and needs to communicate with devices on the upper floors. I’ve heard that using Aqara switches as repeaters can help, but I’m not entirely sure how to optimize this setup effectively.
Another area I’m exploring is the use of Aqara Light 2H EU switches. I plan to install these in each room to control both lighting and roller shutters. The goal is to program each switch to perform specific actions, such as adjusting brightness or operating the shutters. While this seems feasible, I’m curious if there are better alternatives or configurations that could enhance the system’s performance.
I’d also like to hear about others’ experiences with similar setups. How have you managed Zigbee network range issues? What tips do you have for integrating Aqara switches into a Home Assistant setup? Any shared wisdom would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to your insights and recommendations. Let’s continue to build and improve our smart home ecosystems together!
