Smart Home Monitoring: Understanding Away and Stay Modes

I’ve been exploring the Smart Home Monitor feature on my system and have some questions about how the sensors are being utilized in different modes. I’ve set up contact sensors, motion sensors, and smart multi-purpose sensors in my garage, but I’m noticing some inconsistencies in how they’re being monitored.

In the Stay mode, only the contact sensors are listed under “Sensors for armed modes.” However, my motion sensors and garage door tilt sensor (using a Samsung multi-purpose sensor) aren’t showing up. Does this mean they aren’t being monitored? I’d really like to ensure all my sensors are actively contributing to the security of my home.

When I switch to Away mode, it’s even more confusing. The system says, “You don’t have any devices that can be used for monitoring yet.” But I know I have sensors installed! Is there a specific way to add these sensors to the Away monitoring list? The “add sensors” button just seems to add them to SmartThings generally, not specifically to the Away mode.

I’d appreciate any insights or guidance on how to properly configure my sensors for both Stay and Away modes. Understanding this better would help me feel more confident in my home’s security system.

If anyone has successfully set up a comprehensive monitoring system or has tips on optimizing sensor usage, please share your experiences! I’m eager to learn and improve my setup.
