Recently, I’ve been diving into some exciting smart home projects and wanted to share my experiences with the community. One of my favorite projects has been setting up a solar panel monitoring system using Homey. I created a custom script to track daily energy production and even addedDegeneration factors to make the predictions more accurate. While there are still some kinks to work out, like the first-day-of-the-month prognosis issue, it’s been a rewarding learning experience. If anyone has tips or suggestions, I’d love to hear them!
Another project I’ve been working on is decorating my thermostat. I moved it to a more prominent spot on the wall and added a walnut trim to make it blend in better with my home’s aesthetic. So far, it hasn’t affected the sensor’s performance, which is a relief. I’d love to see if others have creative ways to dress up their smart devices!
On a different note, I’ve been exploring the Govee Merch Store and can’t recommend their umbrella enough. It’s been a fun addition to my daily routine, especially on sunny days. Speaking of Govee, I recently saw some stunning gaming room setups using their LED strips. If anyone has custom frame or lighting projects they’d like to share, I’d love to see them!
I also wanted to mention a small issue I’ve been facing with my Shelly devices. I’m trying to disable the dimming function on my Shelly Dimmer 2 to use it solely as a switch for a non-dimmable lamp. If anyone has experience with similar setups or knows how to achieve this, please share your insights!
