As the New Year begins, I’ve been reflecting on my smart home journey and how far I’ve come in integrating various devices and systems. It’s been an exciting adventure, but not without its challenges! ![]()
One of my recent projects was setting up a main dashboard that links to different rooms and their respective dashboards. I have nine panels, each with its own dashboard, and I wanted a central hub to navigate through them all. After some research and trial and error, I managed to create a seamless navigation system. It’s so satisfying to have everything organized and accessible at a glance! If anyone has tips or tricks for optimizing dashboards, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
Another highlight was transitioning from Domoticz to Fibaro. I was migrating 41 nodes, and initially, it felt overwhelming since all my devices weren’t recognized. But with persistence and some community support, I got everything configured. It’s been a smooth ride since then, and I’m grateful for the Fibaro ecosystem! ![]()
I’d also like to share a fun project I worked on—monitoring my standby generator. Using a zigbee outlet and some clever wiring, I rigged up a system to track the generator’s activity. Now, I receive alerts whenever it starts or stops, and I can even check the internal temperature. It’s been a game-changer for peace of mind, especially during harsh winters! ![]()
To anyone embarking on their smart home journey, remember that every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow. The community here is amazing, and I’m lucky to be part of it. Let’s keep sharing our experiences and inspiring each other! ![]()
