Smart Home Setup and Motion Sensor Toggle Lights

Hi everyone, I’m new to the SmartThings community and I’m really excited about diving into the world of smart home technology. I’ve been exploring different devices and apps to automate my home, and I wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice.First, I’d like to talk about the smart lights I’ve installed in my bathroom. They’ve completely transformed the space, and I love how they can be controlled through my phone or voice commands. It’s been a great way to save energy and create a more convenient living environment. I’ve also set up a security camera, which has given me peace of mind knowing my home is safe even when I’m away. Now, I’m trying to set up a motion sensor in my bathroom, and I’m looking for some guidance. My goal is to have the lights toggle on and off based on motion. If the lights are off when motion is detected, they should turn on, and if they’re already on, they should turn off. I came across the ‘my light toggle’ app by Jesse Silverberg, but it requires a master switch, and I only have Hue lights in my setup. This means I need to have a light on all the time for the app to work, which isn’t ideal. I’m wondering if there’s a better way to achieve this without needing a dedicated master switch.I’ve also been experimenting with different apps and rules to see how they can integrate with my existing setup. It’s been a learning curve, but I’m enjoying the process of discovering new possibilities. I’m curious to hear how others have approached similar challenges and if there are any tips or alternative solutions that could help me achieve the functionality I’m looking for.Thank you to everyone who contributes to this community. Your insights and experiences are invaluable, and I’m looking forward to learning more from you all. If anyone has advice on how to set up the motion sensor to toggle the lights without needing a master switch, I’d greatly appreciate it. Let’s continue to explore and innovate together in the world of smart home technology!
