I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and it’s been quite an adventure! Let me share some of my experiences and lessons learned along the way.
First off, I’ve been absolutely impressed with my Govee RGBIC Pro Plus lights. They’ve transformed my kitchen into a vibrant space, especially with the 21:9 Anamorphic HDR 4K setup I’ve been experimenting with. The colors pop, and the dimming feature is perfect for creating the right ambiance. Plus, they’ve been holding up beautifully even in the extreme cold temperatures we’ve been having here. It’s been a great way to brighten up the space without breaking the bank!
However, I’ve encountered a few hiccups along the way. One of my Shelly 1L switches has been giving me some trouble. I paired it with an IKEA Nymåne ceiling light, and while it works, there’s a noticeable flicker when the light is on or off. I’ve heard that bypassing the switch might help, but I’m hesitant to try that without some guidance. Has anyone else had similar issues or found a reliable solution?
Another area I’ve been exploring is home automation. I’ve set up a few scripts to control my yard lights, but I’m finding it a bit clunky. For instance, I have one script that turns on my uplights at dusk and another that turns them off at 11:30 PM. It works, but it feels a bit rigid. I’d love to find a way to combine these into a single, more flexible automation. Any tips or resources on how to streamline this would be greatly appreciated!
On a lighter note, I’ve been experimenting with DIY light effects using my Govee strips. The Marquee, Chasing, and Rainbow effects have been my go-to, but I’m eager to see more creative options in future updates. A feature request for Clockwise and Counter Clockwise movements for the Rainbow effect would be fantastic!
Overall, my journey with smart home devices has been both exciting and challenging. The community support has been invaluable, and I’m looking forward to continue learning and improving my setup. If anyone has tips, tricks, or stories to share, I’d love to hear them!
Cheers to all the tinkerers and innovators out there! ![]()
