Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into my smart home setup lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and ideas. First off, I’ve been really impressed with Govee’s lighting products. I recently set up their RGB IC strip lights, and they’ve completely transformed my home’s ambiance. The ability to control everything through the Govee app is a game-changer, especially for creating cozy winter settings. I’m thinking of trying their Christmas tree lights this holiday season—though I’d love to see a smaller version for my compact living space!
On another note, I’ve been experimenting with integrating my smart home devices with my router. I came across a cool project where you can use your phone’s WiFi connection to trigger presence sensors. While it’s not essential, it’s been a fun way to test out different automation scenarios. I set up a flow using Node-RED and OpenWRT to detect when my phone connects to the network, which then updates my Hubitat presence sensor. It’s pretty neat how this can be faster than traditional ping sensors!
I’d love to hear others’ thoughts on using WiFi for presence detection or any DIY lighting ideas, especially for the winter season. If anyone has tips on optimizing smart home setups or unique device integrations, please share! Happy automating! ![]()
