Smart Home Setup for My New Home

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share my journey of setting up a smart home for my new house. I’ve been researching and planning for months, and it’s finally time to bring everything together. I want to create a seamless system that integrates multiple brands and devices, so I’m reaching out to the community for advice and tips.

First, I want to share my current setup. I’ve got a mix of Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Wi-Fi devices, and I’m using Home Assistant as my hub. My main focus is on lighting automation, climate control, and security. I’ve been using Govee bulbs for their reliability and vibrant colors, and I’m planning to expand my collection with their new neon lights for some unique ambiance.

One thing I’m particularly curious about is how to optimize my Z-Wave mesh network. I recently upgraded some of my older devices, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to ensure a stable connection without too much manual intervention. Also, I’m exploring the possibility of integrating my smart home with my energy provider to track consumption more efficiently. Has anyone had success with this?

Another area I’m focusing on is scene automation. I want to create personalized scenes that adapt to different times of the day or my mood. For example, a cozy evening scene with dim lighting and a warm color palette, or a vibrant morning scene to start the day energized. I’m experimenting with templates and automations in Home Assistant, but I’m still learning the ropes.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the best practices for setting up a multi-brand smart home system. What are your favorite tools or integrations? Any tips for troubleshooting common issues? I’m also curious about your experiences with deep sleep modes for sensors and how to ensure they wake up properly for updates.

Thank you all for your insights and support! I’m looking forward to learning from your experiences and contributing to this amazing community. Let’s make my new home smarter together! :star2:
