Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent smart home setup journey. I’ve been experimenting with various devices and finally got everything working smoothly. Here’s what I’ve done and what I’ve learned along the way. 
The Goal:
I wanted to create a fully automated living room with dimmable lights, energy monitoring, and motion-activated controls. The setup needed to be user-friendly and reliable, so I decided to go with a mix of Z-Wave devices and some smart plugs.
Devices Used:
- Z-Wave Dimmer Switches: I installed these to control my ceiling lights. They allow me to adjust the brightness and set scenes directly from my phone or via voice commands. The integration with my smart hub has been seamless!
- Smart Plugs: I opted for these to monitor energy usage and control my entertainment system. They’ve been a game-changer for energy efficiency!
- Motion Sensor: This detects movement and automatically turns on the lights. It’s perfect for when I walk into the room in the dark.
Challenges Faced:
At first, I struggled with getting all devices to work together. The Z-Wave network kept dropping, but after a bit of research, I found that resetting the network and ensuring all devices were within range solved the issue. Also, finding the right dimmer for my RGB lights was tricky, but I eventually found one that worked perfectly!
