Smart Home Setup Journey: Adding Rooms and Lighting Tips

Hey everyone! I’m thrilled to share my recent smart home setup journey. It’s been an exciting adventure, and I wanted to document some of the highlights and tips I’ve picked up along the way. Hopefully, this can help others who are embarking on their own smart home projects!### Adding a New RoomOne of the first things I tackled was adding a new room to my smart home ecosystem. I’ve been using the system for about a year now, and I wanted to expand it to include my home office. The process was straightforward, but there was one hiccup that had me scratching my head for a bit. When I went to add the room, I noticed that I had to select a bold image, which I found a bit confusing. After some trial and error, I realized that this was just a visual preference, and the room was added without any issues. It’s funny how sometimes the simplest things can throw you off track!### Lighting SetupLighting has always been a big focus for me, and I’ve been experimenting with different setups to create the perfect ambiance. I recently came across a post about using CoRE for lighting automation, and it inspired me to dive deeper into my own system. I set up a routine where my landscape lights turn on at sunset, adjusting their brightness and color based on the time of year. It’s been amazing to see how this small tweak has transformed my evenings, making them feel more cozy and welcoming.### Alexa QuirksI also wanted to touch on a common issue I’ve noticed with Alexa—randomly turning off devices. I have a few smart plugs that occasionally switch off for no apparent reason. While this can be frustrating, I’ve found that resetting the devices and ensuring they’re properly connected to my network usually resolves the issue. It’s a good reminder to regularly check the firmware and settings of all my devices.### Community SupportThis journey wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from the community. Whether it’s troubleshooting tips, product recommendations, or just sharing experiences, the collective knowledge here is invaluable. If anyone has advice on optimizing their lighting setup or has encountered similar issues with Alexa, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for reading, and happy smart home building! :rocket:
