Hello everyone!
I wanted to share my recent experience setting up a smart home system, which has been both exciting and a bit challenging. I’ve been working on automating various aspects of my apartment, from heating to electric blinds, and I’m using OpenHAB on a Raspberry Pi as my main platform. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’d love to hear others’ thoughts and experiences!
One of my first questions was about compatibility—specifically, whether devices like Wi-Fi-enabled blinds or ZigBee relays would work seamlessly with OpenHAB. After some research and trial and error, I’m happy to say that most of my devices are now integrated and functioning well! ![]()
However, I did run into a connectivity issue with my Homey device, which kept going offline. After trying all the solutions from this forum, I discovered that the problem was related to interference from other kitchen appliances using HomeConnect. The solution was to connect these appliances to a guest network or assign them a static IP. Since making this change, I haven’t had any further issues with Homey, and it’s been a reliable hub for my smart home setup. ![]()
I’d love to hear from others who have successfully integrated multiple brands or devices into their systems. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? Any tips for a newbie like me would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
Let’s keep sharing and learning together! ![]()
