Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home technology, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and ask for advice. Setting up my smart home has been a mix of excitement and challenges, and I thought I’d document my journey here.
First off, I recently purchased the Govee Smart Plugs, and I have to say, they’ve been a game-changer. The ability to control my lights and appliances from my phone is incredibly convenient. I especially love how they integrate with my existing smart home ecosystem. However, I did run into an issue with the night vision on my Wyze Pan Cam V2. The video quality at night is quite poor, which is a bit disappointing since I live in a rural area where lighting is minimal. Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any tips to improve it?
Another thing I’m curious about is extending the range of my smart home devices. I have a VeraPlus controller, and I was wondering if I could use my old VeraLite to improve coverage throughout my house. I transferred everything over from the VeraLite to the VeraPlus, but I’m not sure how to set up the VeraLite as a range extender. Does anyone have experience with this or know of a guide that could help?
I also wanted to share a tip about using the Vera controller for range extension. By keeping the VeraLite on the network and strategically placing it in areas with poor coverage, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the reliability of my smart devices. It’s a simple solution that makes a big difference!
Lastly, I’m looking for recommendations on a wired camera system similar to Arlo. After dealing with charging issues with my Arlo cameras, I decided to run dedicated CAT 6 cables to each location. Now that the hard work is done, I’m curious if anyone has experience with other wired systems that could offer similar functionality. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Overall, my smart home journey has been filled with learning opportunities and the occasional hurdle. I’m excited to continue exploring and enhancing my setup. If anyone has advice or experiences to share, I’d love to hear them!
Cheers,
