This year, I decided to go all out for Halloween, and Govee’s warning lights were the perfect addition to my setup. I used red strobe lights to create an eerie warning effect around my house. It was a hit with the neighborhood kids and added a fun spooky vibe to my smart home setup.
Jasco/Z-Wave Dimmer Fix
I also wanted to share a solution I found for my Jasco/Z-Wave dimmer outlets. I noticed that instead of smoothly fading between dim levels, they would jump immediately to the set level. After some digging, I discovered that there’s a undocumented configuration parameter (parameter 6) that controls whether the dimmer changes levels instantly or smoothly. By adjusting this, I was able to achieve the smooth transitions I was hoping for. This was a huge improvement, especially for scenes where multiple dimmers are involved.
Smart Lighting Automation
Another tip I’d like to share is about automating my lights based on motion sensors. I set up my system so that the lights dim when there’s no motion and brighten when someone enters the room. It’s not only energy-efficient but also adds a nice touch of convenience.
