Hey everyone!
I just wanted to share a fun experience I had recently with my smart home setup while going on vacation. It’s been a while since my family and I managed to take a proper break, but this year we finally did it! ![]()
One thing I was really worried about was keeping my smart home devices running smoothly while I was away. I decided to test out some new automation routines to ensure everything was in check. For instance, I set up my Shelly devices to send me notifications if there were any unusual activities detected while I was gone. It gave me peace of mind knowing I could monitor things from afar. ![]()

Another thing I tried was using my Govee lights to create a more welcoming atmosphere for when we returned. I programmed them to gradually brighten as I approached the house, which was such a cool touch!
It definitely made coming back feel special.
I also discovered a neat trick with my smart plugs: using them to monitor the power consumption of my appliances. It’s been super helpful for identifying any energy hogs in my home! ![]()
If anyone has tips for optimizing smart home setups during vacations, I’d love to hear them! ![]()
