Smart Humidity Control: My DIY Journey with Temperature and Humidity Sensors

Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! :star2: I wanted to share my recent project that combines temperature and humidity sensors to create a smart humidity control system. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’d love to hear your thoughts or tips!Earlier this week, I set out to improve the air quality in my home by creating a system that automatically controls my ventilation based on humidity levels. The idea is simple yet effective: when the outdoor absolute humidity is lower than indoors, the system activates the ventilation to bring in fresher air. I started by using an EverSpring ST814 sensor, which provided the necessary temperature and humidity data. From there, I developed a plugin to calculate the dew point and absolute humidity. While this was a great start, I realized that other devices might expose the same services, so I’m curious if anyone has tested this on different sensors. The next step was integrating this data into my smart home ecosystem. I faced a few challenges, like ensuring the plugin was compatible with my existing setup and figuring out how to automate the ventilation controls. After some trial and error, I managed to set up a system that works seamlessly with my current infrastructure. One thing I’d love to add in the future is notifications for significant changes in humidity levels, but for now, the system successfully uses the output in scenes to manage ventilation. It’s been running smoothly, and I’m thrilled with the results! If anyone has similar projects or tips for improving this system, I’d love to hear from you! Let’s continue to innovate and share our smart home experiences. :rocket:
