I just moved into a new home and I’m really excited about the potential to set up a smart HVAC system. I’ve been doing some research and I have a few questions and ideas that I’d love to share with the community.
The house currently has one thermostat controlling the entire system, but I know there’s potential to split it into zones. I’ve identified an unused damper and I’m wondering if integrating it would allow me to control each level separately. Additionally, there are some electric baseboard heaters on the lower level that are currently controlled by timer switches. I’d love to integrate these into the SmartThings ecosystem as well.
My ideal setup would allow me to control the temperature on each level individually and even manage the baseboard heaters through the SmartThings app. I’m curious if anyone has experience with similar setups or if there are any challenges I should be aware of.
I’m also thinking about how to automate this system to make it more efficient. For example, adjusting the temperature based on the time of day or occupancy. If anyone has tips or recommendations for automations, I’d love to hear them!
